Results of the 20th annual public opinion poll TýTý 2010

A live broadcast was made of the ceremonial evening from the Theatre Divadlo na Vinohradech by Česká televize on 2 April 2010 at 8.00 p.m. Just as last year it was presented by the wonderful Karel Šíp who was immediately welcomed to the great applause of the public. Television viewers also expressed their admiration by voting for him in the category Television Entertainment Personality. But it was no surprise to him though as he himself wittily pointed out he did not reckon that he would not receive “it”.
Television viewers also had the opportunity this year to vote for their favourites by SMS and the internet at www.tyty.cz and using correspondence cards. They finally confirmed the popularity of the public poll by an amazing 431,027 votes!

This year’s TýTý 2010 can be characterised using one word. Surprise. The biggest surprise was in the “Male Singer” category. The most popular male singer for an unbelievable 19 years had been Karel Gott and nobody doubted he would also win this year. So it came as an even bigger shock when Marie Rottrová announced the name Michal David. Unlike Karel Šíp he did not reckon he would receive “it”.
But as Karel Gott said himself before the broadcast he would welcome, if someone else would win for a change. This came true but he and viewers will have to take a while to get used to his “not coming first”. Perhaps even you. So we prepared a poll for you in which you can express your opinion of this category.
In the female singer category Lucie Vondráčková won again as last year. Her father Jiří Vondráček received the award in her place stating that she could not attend because of “commitments” that were keeping her in Canada.
There was also a turning point in the Television Publicist Personality category. It was Josef Klima who won in place of Václav Moravec who had been the winner for three years who in his speech thanked TV Nova for cancelling the Na vlastní oči (With Own Eyes) show and allowed him to win thanks to the Soukromá dramata (Private Dramas) show on the Prima television channel. The most popular actress Veronika Freimanová thanked the series Vyprávěj (Narrate) for her award which also won the “Series” category and became the absolute winner of the public poll. Aleš Ulm received the award (little mirror) from the managing director of Bauer Media, Jaromír Skopalík.
Jiřina Bohdalová received her 80th birthday gift in advance and entered the Hall of Fame during the gala evening and was rewarded by the public with long standing ovation. She said that she already now was looking forward to what she could expect for her ninetieth birthday. So would we in the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of TýTý.
