Just as in previous years, in some of the categories the TýTý little mirror awards were won by likely favourites, for others it was just a “return to the limelight”, and some winners surprised “themselves”.

The TýTý awards were presented in a Live Czech television broadcast of the gala evening from the Divadlo na Vinohradech theatre on 14 April 2012 at 8.00 p.m. In view of presenter Karel Šíp’s health problems, the presenters of this year’s gala evening were two ladies – Jitka Čvančarová and Tereza Kostková. Their charm and grace provided the icing to the cake of the ceremonious event.

As always, the winners were chosen by television viewers who in the end expressed their support of the TýTý 2011 poll and, above all, of their favourite television personalities by an incredible total of 693,320 votes! This exceeded last year’s number by more than 260 000 votes!

You can find out who were the winners and the order of all the other nominees in all the categories at TýTý 2011 results.

Information that flows in from all sides is not always positive, so it is very important who conveys it. It would appear that it is received with greater understanding from the lips of Lucie Borhyová, so this year’s first little mirror award for Television News Personality was rightly presented to her. The category of the Sports Presenter returned to the team after six years and it´s Vojtěch Bernatský who was most successful in it. The runners-up could be reassured with the Olympic Creed – The most important thing is not to win, but to take part. Last year’s little mirror award for Television Publicist Personality surprisingly went to Josef Klíma. This year it was picked up again by the “old-new” winner Václav Moravec who can place it on a shelf as his fourth TýTý award.

When the continuous string of awards presented to Karel Gott was broken last year by Michal David, many thought this was a sacrilege. But Karel Gott had already sent out a clear message last year to fans that it was time for a change. This year he lost out to two colleagues – Michal David, as the winner, and Tomáš Klus who took the “silver”. A constant star on the Czech music scene is undoubtedly Lucie Bílá, who this year, unlike the previous three years, did not leave empty-handed and became the holder of the Singer of the Year little mirror award.

Television entertainment is a bit of a punch bag which can never please everyone. But in recent years viewers have enjoyed authenticity and ease embodied in one specific case with occasional ingenious or occasional awkward human improvisation. It is not surprising that this year’s TýTý Television Entertainment Personality award went to actor Ondřej Sokol.

Hana Maciuchová and Rudolf Hrušínský have created a couple in the TV series Ulice (The Street) that viewers love. Therefore, unsurprisingly, they won the Best Actress and Best Actor award this year. The TV programme of the year became the improvisation show Partička (The Bumch).

The Series of the Year category again confirmed that viewers love retro and so Vyprávěj (Tell) rightly won the little mirror award again. The discovery of the year, who it was only possible to vote for during the live broadcast, became Tomáš Klus.

This year’s TýTý award for Absolute Winner was presented by Bauer Media managing director Jaromír Skopalík to members of Partička which received over 50 percent of votes in its category!

Radoslav Brzobohatý entered the Hall of Fame when he was presented with an award by Jiřina Bohdalová. She had received this precious award last year and just as she, so this year’s winner received a huge standing ovation.

The ceremonious gala evening is behind us, the little mirrors have been handed out and we can look forward to next year’s TýTý 2012…
